The IMS

The Information Management System (IMS) is the specialised software that provides the Cochrane Collaboration's electronic infrastructure

Archie and Revman

The IMS has two main components:

  • RevMan is the software used for preparing and maintaining Cochrane reviews.
  • Archie is the Cochrane Collaboration's central server for managing documents, contacts details and workflows.

Together, they enable contributors to the Cochrane Collaboration to meet the demands of producing high quality systematic reviews of the evidence of the effects of healthcare and deliver these for publication in The Cochrane Library and elsewhere.

Future IMS development

Possible future IMS development is described in the IMS budget request 2009-2012.

The Cochrane Collaboration

The Cochrane Collaboration is an international not-for-profit and independent organization, dedicated to making up-to-date, accurate information about the effects of healthcare readily available worldwide. The Cochrane Collaboration uses the IMS to produce the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews which is published quarterly as part of The Cochrane Library.
