About RevMan 4

RevMan is the software used for preparing and maintaining Cochrane reviews.

RevMan 4 can no longer be used for Cochrane reviews. Cochrane authors should use RevMan 5 instead.

RevMan allows you to enter protocols, as well as complete reviews, including text, characteristics of studies, comparison table, and study data. It can perform meta-analysis of the data entered, and present the results graphically. RevMan is developed through a continuing process of consultation with its users. Note that RevMan is mainly useful once you are well on the way to develop a review.

RevMan is developed at The Nordic Cochrane Centre. The development is overseen by the IMSG and the IMSG/RAG.

Permission to use RevMan

You are allowed to use RevMan free of charge to prepare Cochrane Reviews. For other purposes, you need to agree on the terms in the End-User License Agreement, which may involve purchasing a license.

Purchasing a license

If you plan to purchase a license for RevMan, you are allowed to install it and use it for a trial period of one week to test that it is compliant with your system. After one week you must either uninstall the software or contact The Nordic Cochrane Centre to purchase a license.
