Current RevMan Version

Document Actions

The latest major version is RevMan 4.2. RevMan 4.2 is a non-mandatory update to RevMan 4.1. This means you can continue to submit reviews using RevMan 4.1 if you prefer. But note that if your co-reviewers start to use RevMan 4.2 they will have access to sections of reviews and features not available in RevMan 4.1. Therefore it is recommended that all co-reviewers upgrade at the same time. The latest bugfix to RevMan 4.2 has version number 4.2.8. It fixes the bugs listed here.

RevMan 4.2 can be downloaded here.

What's new in RevMan 4.2

The changes from RevMan 4.1 include:

  • Image files can be added to reviews as ''additional figures''
  • Bold, italics, underline, subscript and superscript can be used in the main text of review
  • A new statistical method, generic inverse variance, is included
  • A new program for statistical analysis with better options for printing and exporting graphs
  • Improved import/export functionality
  • Improved functionality for tables

... and much more that you can read about in the release notes.

Bugs and other problems

See the list of problems here.

What does the version number signify?

The format of RevMan's version number is X.Y.Z, e.g. 4.2.1.

X is the main version number that changes only when the format of a review changes, e.g. if new sections are added. Only when this number changes is updating mandatory.
Example: The same review format is used by versions 4.0 and 4.1, and reviews can be exchanged freely between them. Reviews from version 4.1 cannot be imported in version 3.1.

A change in Y indicates changes to the interface and/or that new functionality has been added.

Z indicates bug fixed versions with no new features. It is generally omitted when it is zero - 0.
Example: The difference between 4.2 and 4.2.1 is bug fixes only.
