Objectives
The purpose of this workshop is to provide an introduction to the new Cochrane Information Management System (IMS). The workshop is open for all, but the focus during the presentation will be on functionality that is of most interest to authors, editors and other members of Collaborative Review Groups that are not based at the editorial bases.
We will aim to demonstrate most of the functionality in the new IMS, but pay particular attention to:
* User accounts and access rights
* Working with reviews, including assigning access right to reviews, review versioning, comparing reviews, and more
* Editorial workflows
The plans for system roll-out will also be presented.
Description
In the beginning of 2005 the new IMS will gradually be rolled out to editorial bases of Collaborative Review Group (CRGs). The new IMS is an internet-based system that among other things will support CRGs in preparing, maintaining and publishing Cochrane reviews. It will replace ModMan and integrate the Cochrane Contact Database. It will support the editorial workflow and help with the tracking of reviews. At the same time as switching over to the new IMS, editorial bases will also be switching over to RevMan 4.3, which will have an communication module to enable checking reviews in/out of a central server. RevMan 4.3 will not be mandatory for authors to use, and it will be the responsibility of editorial bases to agree with members of their CRGs to which extent they should become active users of the new IMS. Once RevMan 5 becomes available, sometime in 2006, it is the expectation that most Cochrane authors will interact with the central IMS.
The final programme will be developed in close collaboration with the IMS support team. If there are particular issues that you would like to see addressed during the workshop, please send a mail to Monica Kjeldstrøm ("m.kjeldstrom@cochrane.dk":mailto:m.kjeldstrom@cochrane.dk).
