(a) For All
Question: A member of our CRG editorial
staff is no longer working with us. As a member of staff he had an
Archie user account. He still has an Archie record because he is on
our CRG's mailing list and is also a member of a non-CRG entity.
Is it still appropriate for him to have an Archie user
account?

Question: Can I print the full
review, including forest plots, from within RevMan

1. Latest Archie
deployment (v.2.0): 10 December 2007
A new version of Archie was deployed last Monday,
10 December 2007 with further versions deployed on 11 December (v.2.0.1
and v.2.0.2) and 14 December (v.2.0.3). The main focus of this
deployment was to integrate Archie with RevMan 5. Some of the changes
are relevant to all users, whereas others are only relevant to the CRGs
involved in the RevMan 5 Pilot. When RevMan 5 goes on general
release, all CRGs will have access to all the new features. For full
details of this deployment, go to Help > What's new.
Highlights include the following.
For all
CRGs
-
Author Document Roles have been renamed. The relationship between the roles continue as before for RevMan 4 reviews: a review will have one Contact Person and a number of Authors, with no overlap. RevMan 4 is unchanged and continues to use the old labels 'Contact reviewer' and 'Co-reviewer'.
Pilot CRGs only: in RevMan 5 reviews, when the contact person for a review is also an author, which is usually the case, s/he should be assigned the Document Role 'Author' as well as the Document Role 'Contact Person'. -
City and country are now mandatory fields in the New Person Wizard.
For RevMan 5 pilot CRGs
-
When reverting a review in Archie that has been converted to RevMan 5 to a version in RevMan 4 format, the new version created will automatically be converted to RevMan 5 with updated contact details from the Archie record.
-
Pilot Groups are not able to republish RevMan 4 reviews using the Review Contact Detail Wizard.
-
Publication reports have been redesigned to reflect the new publication flags.
-
The Authors Losing Subscriptions report supports RevMan 5 reviews. A valid subscription requires that the date in the Assessd as Up-to-date field in RevMan 5 is within the last 30 months.

2. Checking the status of
Archie
If you experience a problem with
Archie, you can check the status of the
server at http://www.cc-ims.net/Archie. If the
system administrators consider Archie to be running normally, the
status will be "OK - no issues known". When a problem has been
identified, the severity will be indicated and, whenever possible, a
very brief description of the problem and an indication of when it will
be fixed will be given.
If you encounter a problem that is not
explained by the status message, do not hesitate to report it to your
IMS Support person.

3. Start of RevMan 5 pilot
3. Start of RevMan 5 pilot
The RevMan 5 pilot
started on Monday, 10 December 2007. The Co-Chairs of the Cochrane
Collaboration Steering Group sent a letter to all authors with a
review, protocol or registered title with one of the five CRGs involved
in the pilot to explain the implications for them -
see http://www.cc-ims.net/RevMan/RevMan5/Pilot-authors-letter.pdf.
In brief, authors of pilot Groups can have an Archie user account so
that they can check reviews out of and in to Archie. Authors working
with pilot CRGs have been informed that they should not use RevMan 5 to
submit reviews to non-pilot CRGs. However, if they have an
Archie user account, please remember that they will be able
to
(a) check out and
edit the latest version of any review on which they are an author if
the Write Phase of the review is
Authoring
Note:
although pilot authors can check out reviews from any CRG, they can
only use RevMan 5 to check in reviews to the pilot
CRGs.
(b) view and compare
in Archie those versions of reviews on which they are an author that
are in the Authoring or Shared Read Phase;
and
(c) read in Archie
all published versions of reviews in CRGs in which they have an
Entity Role.

4.
Reminders
(a) Training for authors
in RevMan 5
Please remember that Cochrane Centres
are responsible for training and supporting authors in the use of
RevMan 5. Authors can therefore contact their local Cochrane Centre for
help with the use of RevMan 5 or refer to http://www.cochrane.org/news/workshops.htm for
details of upcoming workshops.
(b) Archie user accounts
for authors
Please remember that some of your
authors may have Archie user accounts now if they are active authors
with one of the RevMan 5 pilot CRGs - see item 3
above.
**********************************************************************************
5. UK
IMS workshop for Editors will be held in York in March
2008
The IMS
workshop for Editors will be held in York and
not Oxford as reported in the last IMS
Bulletin.
**********************************************************************************
6.
Registering titles in
Archie
You will notice that
Archie now has support to register the four types of RevMan 5 reviews
(Intervention, Diagnostic, Methodology, Overview of reviews) as
well as RevMan 4 reviews. However, only the RevMan 5 Pilot Groups can
use the new formats. If you are not a pilot CRG, please select 'RevMan
4 review' when registering a title. Once RevMan 5 goes on general
release, the 'RevMan 4 review' format will be
removed.

8. Questions
of the week
(a) For
all
Question: A
member of our CRG editorial staff is no longer working with
us. As a member of staff, we were his Primary Entity and he had an
Archie user account. He still has an Archie record because he is on
our CRG's mailing list and is also a member of a non-CRG entity.
Is it still appropriate for him to have an Archie user
account?
Answer: Yes. Anyone
who has had an Archie user account can continue to have one as long as
they have a record in Archie. The permissions that come with a user
account, i.e., what an individual can do and see in Archie, are
related to their Entity and Document Roles. It is therefore important
that the Super User of the Primary Entity edits or deletes the roles
the person no longer has as soon as
possible.
(b) For
RevMan 5 Pilot
CRGs
(a)
Question: Can I print the full review, including forest plots,
from within RevMan 5?
Answer:
Only in two separate steps. The Text of Review print mode will include
the data tables and all named figures, but not the full set of forest
plots, for which you will need to use Forest Plots print mode. The
RevMan team is considering updating the print options at a later
date.
