1. CRG Satellites

Some CRGs have established Satellites. The establishment of CRG Satellites must now be approved by the Collaboration's Monitoring and Registration Group - see Annex C (page 214) of The Cochrane Manual. At the request of the Steering Group, the IMS team are in the process of adding folders for Satellites in the Resources folder in Archie. The reason for doing this is to allow the Satellite and its staff to be identified separately from their parent CRG in Archie. Satellites will not have modules but the folder in Archie will allow them to share documents through Archie and, if they wish, set up a website using the website builder supported by the German Cochrane Centre. In the future, the Monitoring and Registration Group will inform the IMS team when a new CRG Satellite has been registered so that the folder can be added to Archie.

For existing Satellites, before the IMS team set up the Satellite folder in Archie, the RGC of the parent CRG will be contacted by a member of the IMS team to confirm (a) the name of the Satellite (following the agreed Cochrane naming convention for Satellites) and (b) the person who should be assigned the Entity role Super User for the Satellite. There will only be a small selection of Entity roles available for the Super User of the Satellite to assign (e.g., Staff, Super User), which will relate to their job at the Satellite. The Entity Permission to contribute to the work of the CRG should still be assigned by the Super User of the parent CRG using the Entity roles available to CRGs (e.g., Author, Editor). Staff at the Satellite may, therefore, also be assigned an Entity role by the parent CRG (e.g., Assistant RGC). When the RGC of the parent entity has confirmed the name of the satellite and the name of the Super User for the Satellite, the IMS team will create the folder in Archie.

For details of the training and support offered to Satellites, please read the 'Statement on Provision of CRG training and support' document under 'CRG resources' at http://www.cc-ims.net/Projects/newIMS. In brief, arrangements for IMS training for Satellite staff must be arranged through the parent CRG. The IMS Support person for the region in which the Satellite is based will carry out the IMS training - see list at http://www.cc-ims.net/Projects/newIMS/Training/crgsupport-list/view.

2. Editor's User Guide + Quick Start for Editors

We have moved the Editor's User Guide and Quick Start for Editors (a single page reference sheet) to the Training & Support section of the New IMS webpage at http://www.cc-ims.net/Projects/newIMS.

For your information, we are currently combining and updating the RGC User Guide and Phase 2 User Guide. Once we have finalised this document, we will let you know. We will then prepare a User Guide for TSCs.

3. Reminder: resolving duplicates

Remember to resolve duplicates of People records (Tools > Resolve Duplicates...) and contact your IMS Support person if you need help.
