1. Proposal that all RGCs become RevMan 5 beta testers
As mentioned in thte last IMS Bulletin, at the UK RGC meeting in March 2007, it was agreed that it would be helpful if all RGCs signed up to beta test RevMan 5 to give them experience of using RevMan 5 before their authors start to use it. (If you would like to become a beta tester, please email revman5beta@cochrane.dk.) For your information, we are currently considering other strategies to enable staff in CRG editorial offices to become familiar with RevMan 5 before it goes on general release and authors start to contact CRG editorial offices for support.
2. Preliminary call for volunteer CRGs to pilot Archie workflows
Development of the workflow/tracking system in Archie is continuing and we hope to have one of the workflows available for testing by the middle of this year. We would like to identify CRGs who might be interested in piloting the workflows when they become available. Further details of the pilot will be announced at a later date, but pilot CRGs would ideally be those that do not currently have a tracking system, would like to have one, and would be willing to use the new system exclusively over a period of time. If you think you might be interested in this, please inform your IMS Support person. Please note that this is an initial expression of interest only and does not at this stage commit you to becoming involved.
3. Questions of the week
(a) Question: I want to send one PDF file of a review, which includes all the graphs, to referees. How do I do this in Archie?
Answer: You cannot do this in Archie at the moment. It is currently an item on the wish list. In the meantime, the quickest way to prepare a PDF file of a full review is to generate the file from RevMan. To do this, you must first change the Print set up in RevMan to 'FinePrint PDF factory', highlight the title of the review and click Print.
b) Question: Can I delete versions of reviews from the History of a review or must I keep them all?
Answer: You can delete versions of reviews if you wish and, in some cases, this may be advisable so that you are not retaining extraneous versions. However, please note that once you have deleted a version, you cannot reinstate it.
You can delete several versions of a review at one time. Use Shift-click and Ctrl-click to select multiple versions and then click Delete.
