1. Editor's Guide to Working with Reviews in the Information Management System (IMS)

We have prepared an 'Editor's Guide to Working with Reviews in the Information Management System (IMS)' and a 'Quick Start for Editors', both of which are available at http://cc-ims.net/Projects/newIMS/Training along with the PowerPoint slides from the IMS training for Cochrane Review Group Editors workshop, which was held during the UK Contributors' meeting in Oxford last week. The Editors who attended this workshop were given a paper copy of the Editor's Guide and the Quick Start. If one of your Editors attended the workshop, Sonja would have contacted the RGC to inform him/her so that the RGC could arrange for the Editor to have access to Archie.

As mentioned in the Editor's Guide, all CRG Editors can have access to Archie with the support of their RGC and should request an account through their RGC. To initiate the process of setting up an account, the RGC should go to the Editor's Properties in Archie > Settings > Create User Account .... If you would like your Co-ordinating Editor or other Editors to use Archie but would like advice on how to roll it out to them first, please contact your IMS Support person.

As a reminder, Co-ordinating Editors by default have permission to read all published versions of their CRG's reviews, as well as all draft versions that have the Read Phase 'Editorial' or 'Shared'; other Editors have the default permission to read only published versions of their CRG's reviews. However, Editors can also read draft 'Editorial' and 'Shared' versions of those reviews on which their RGC has assigned them the Document role 'Contact editor'. These permissions are in addition to the permissions they may have as Authors. For details of all default permissions for the individual Entity roles, go to http://www.cochrane-net.org/imshelp/resources/entities/entity_role_permissions.htm.

2. Reminder: Person Report

To see a list of all the reviews on which a person has been assigned the Document role Contact editor, right-click the person's name and choose Reports > Person report.

3. RGCs as RevMan 5 beta testers

At the UK RGC meeting on 20 March, it was suggested that RGCs should consider signing up as RevMan 5 beta testers so that they become familiar with the new version before it is rolled out to their authors. If you would like to sign up as a beta tester for RevMan 5, please email revman5beta@cochrane.dk.

4. Question of the week

Question: Why can't my Editor check out a review from Archie even though she has a Document role for the review?

Answer: Because the review is in the Authoring phase. Editors can only check out reviews from Archie if the 'Write Phase' is set to Editorial. To change the 'Write Phase', open the review's Properties, go to the General tab, and change the 'Write Phase' from Authoring to Editorial.
