1. Information on transitions for Cochrane protocols and reviews in The Cochrane Library (attached document)
The attached information document ('Statuses and transitions of status for reviews and protocols from one issue to the next - a document for information') was updated by Pauline Howarth and Simon Newton from Wiley following the September 2006 RevMan Advisory Group meeting. It is important that RGCs (and others involved in the publication of Cochrane reviews) read this document because it describes the current flow of published Cochrane protocols and reviews in The Cochrane Library and relates to the quarterly module submission reports RGCs receive from Wiley.
2. Resolving duplicates: reminder
Please remember to read the 'check-in report' when checking reviews into Archie and correct any duplicate records that may have been created unintenionally during the check-in process. If the check-in report states that a new record has been created for an author, go to Archie and search for that person. If this confirms that a record already exists for that person, you can either attach the correct record to your review in Archie and then delete the record that was unintentionally created or mark your record as a duplicate of the main record. The Super User of the Primary entity for the person's record will be notified of the duplicate. If you receive such a message, please resolve it as soon as possible using the Resolve duplicates wizard (Tools > Resolve Duplicates ...).
3. Update on RevMan 5
RevMan 5 is scheduled to be released by the middle of 2007. You can find out about the improved functionality in RevMan 5 at www.cc-ims.net/RevMan/RevMan5.
4. Question of the week
Question: We have a published review that has been relinquished by the contact author, who wants his name to be removed as the Contact author when the review is next published in The Cochrane Library . We don't want to withdraw the review from publication because it is up-to-date. What should I do?
Answer: Until you have identified a new contact author, provide the name and address of the RGC as the contact author by giving the RGC the Document role 'Contact author' for the review. This will not affect the citation for the review when it is published.
