1. Ensuring .rm4 files open in RevMan 4.3

If you have both RevMan 4.2 and 4.3 installed, and your system is set up so that .rm4 files automatically open in RevMan 4.2, but you prefer for these files to open in RevMan4.3, you can change this in the following way:

  1. Locate any .rm4 file; right-click it and choose Open With > Choose Program...
  2. In the Open With window, locate Review Manager 4.3 and click it so it is highlighted. (If Review Manager 4.3 is not in the list, you need to use the Browse.. button, and locate the 'review manager 4.exe' file in your RevMan 4.3 installation folder)
  3. Check the box for 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file', and click OK

These instructions are for Windows XP, but the procedure is similar for other versions of Windows.

2. New folder in Archie: CENTRAL forum

A new folder has been set up in Archie and recently renamed from CENTRAL to 'CENTRAL forum'. The people responsible for the submission of specialised registers and handsearch records, usually TSCs, have been given the role Mailing list for 'CENTRAL forum' to facilitate feedback from Wiley for the submission process. This will also allow Mailing list members to view the documents related to the Interim Measure for CENTRAL in Archie

3. Reminder: Grouping by Entity type in Resources

You might find it easier to navigate through the Resources if you group the entities by type of entity. To do this, go to Tools > Preferences > Resources and check the box 'Group by entity type'.

4. Report on Archie module submissions for Issue 1, 2007 (from Ben Hickling, Project Editor, John Wiley & Sons)

Wiley collected data for all Cochrane entities from Archie at module submission time and e-mailed feedback reports to all CRGs. No errors were found in the data, but 11 CRGs and two non-CRGs requested late changes, so their modules were unlocked to allow these to be made, then re-collected. Some of these changes were needed because of a confusion about the exact time data were being collected from Archie. This also caused the initial e-mailed reports to be delayed as some work was needed behind the scenes. Future times will be re-confirmed between the IMS team and Wiley, and circulated to RGCs so that such a situation does not arise again. Other requested changes related to problems with the module text editor. The IMS team are looking into this.

5. Suggested 'solutions' to case studies discussed at the IMS session at the RGC meeting in Dublin

Thank you to everybody who contributed to the discussions at this meeting. As agreed, we have prepared suggested 'solutions' to the case studies we presented - please see attached.
