IMS Bulletin (29 April 2005)

Index

  1. What's new in the IMS
  2. Question of the week: Is there a wishlist for the IMS where I can make suggestions for its development?

Please note there will be no Bulletin for the next two weeks because of the RevMan Advisory Group and Information Management System Group meetings on 5 and 6 May 2005 and the IMS team meeting the following week

1. What's new in the IMS

The following changes were made in April to the IMS server in response to feedback from Users and the Steering Group's decision to change its name to Archie:

  • Server interface has been redesigned
  • 'Resource' menu is now called the 'File' menu
  • 'My tools' toolbar now slides in over the content - place your cursor on the blue bar to reveal your messages and move it off the blue bar to collapse it
  • Changes to a person's entity roles no longer count as a modification to that person's record
  • Entity roles are now listed with information on when they were assigned and by whom
  • 'Suggest changes' button has been replaced by a context menu item. To suggest changes, right-click on the person and select "Suggest Changes..." or highlight the person and select "Suggest Changes..." from the system menu.
For full details of what is new, refer to 'Help > What's new' where you will also see the new IMS features that are currently only available to the IMS Pilot Groups but will be available to Groups when they move over to Phase 2.

2. Question of the week

Question: Is there a wishlist for the IMS where I can make suggestions for its development?

Answer: Yes, go to 'Help > Feedback' which will take you to the IMS wishlist where you can view items already submitted for consideration, decisions taken on wishes already reviewed or submit your new suggestion for consideration by the Editorial Management Advisory Group (EMAG) at its next meeting. The next meeting of EMAG will be held in Melbourne in October 2005. If you feel your wish should be considered sooner then speak to your IMS Support person about it first.
