- For Phase 2 users: Latest version of RevMan 4.3 and new Training server
- Questions of the week:
(a) What is the legality of faxed Licence to publish forms? Isn't it better to have the original? Should we ask the authors to put the original in the post?

This is the last Bulletin for 2005.
We look forward to working with you next year.
Happy holidays!
1. For Phase 2 Users
Latest version of RevMan 4.3 and new Training server
The latest version of RevMan 4.3 beta was released on 12 December 2005 - see www.cc-ims.net/RevMan/RevMan4.3. The December version includes the address for a new Training server in the server pull-down list (File > Edit > Settings > Server) as well as removing the option to update Archie with contact details from a checked-in review and fixing a bug in the XML generation.
You can access the new Training server at http://130.226.106.133.
Training server
The Training server is used by the IMS Support team for training purposes and by Phase 2 CRGs to try out Archie functionality without the risk of introducing mistakes in their live data. The Training server's functionality will usually match the Live server's.
Test server
The Test server is used by the IMS Development team and beta-testers to test new functionality before it is introduced on the live server. Generally the Test server should not be used by Phase 2 CRGs unless they are helping to test new functionality that is to be introduced to the Live server at a later stage.
2. Questions of the week
(a) Question: What is the legality of faxed Licence to publish forms? Isn't it better to have the original? Should we ask the authors to put the original in the post?
Answer: The legal department at Wiley advises that it is 'good practice' for RGCs to hold the original copy of the signed form, and we should continue to do this. If the authors don't have sufficient time to mail the form to the editorial base before the module deadline, then a fax is acceptable and we should ask the authors to post the original to us as well. If an author faxed the form, but never sends the original, the fax is legally binding.
(b) Question: How can I easily identify our 'active' from 'inactive' authors in Archie?
Answer: There is no straightforward way to do this at the moment. We agree this is important and have added this to the Archie wishlist for future development. In the meantime, as a workaround, if you add 'inactive' to the role description, you will be able to search for the authors with this status.
